Reminiscing on Past Projects and Sharing My Favorites

A few days ago, I gave a high level look at the projects I am currently planning and what we are working on.
The next stage in our house is a big one, because honestly after this it will be technically finished. Finished!! Holy 5 and a half years….
It feels so good to have that goal on the horizon and there is a ton of work to do in the next few months, but during this exciting planning stage, it also has me feeling a little nostalgic on the list of past projects we have tackled over the years.
Right now I’d probably consider our house 70% complete. Without the kitchen being done it definitely feels like there is a decent amount to go. I would say our biggest project to date has definitely been the exterior. Painting every square inch - from the brick, the soffits, gutters, stone and then doing all of the landscaping it took quite a bit of time and multiple stages of work. The before and afters are pretty dang significant and I am so happy we did all of this ourselves to save a ton of $$$.

On the inside, there has been thousands of hours invested in between these walls considering where we truly started. As multiple rooms have been completed over the years, there are a few that stick out as my favorite so far.
The boys’ room has a special place in my heart. I love that they share a room and I think it turned out really cute, but sophisticated at the same time. Each night I am reminded about this one and I still love it.

The bathroom makes the list since this was really life changing. The before of this bathroom is seriously retched. This is also our only bathroom upstairs so with Ryan, I and two kids all sharing the space, I wanted to make it super functional, but also feel airy since it is on the small side…

The dining room to me was one of our best accomplishments, since we really took a room with so much potential and gave it what it deserved. We actually got the house with a patio already in the back. It seemed so weird that there wasn’t already a door on the back of the house that led out to the patio. That was how it was meant to be, so we made it happen! Not an easy project since at the time, there was no way we were going to pay for a custom door to exactly fit that window spot. Instead we purchased a stock door from Lowe’s and framed it out to fit the space that was cut out from the window. In general, super proud of this one.

The last room that hit my favorites was the living room. We spend the most time sitting (and living) in here and I sometimes picture the red carpet and remember how far we’ve come. This room is really the heart of our home and the coffee table is by milessss the most used piece of furniture that we have ever owned. The new addition of the kids’ photos on the wall just makes me smile.
